This free tool converts between 27 major world currencies using official exchange rates from the European Central Bank (ECB), sourced via the frankfurter.app public API. Rates are cached locally in your browser for 24 hours — no unnecessary API calls, no tracking.
All conversions use EUR as the base currency. To convert USD → JPY, for example, the tool first converts USD to EUR using the ECB rate, then EUR to JPY. This ensures consistent, accurate results across all currency pairs.
The ECB publishes reference rates every business day around 4 PM CET. Your browser caches the rates for 24 hours; a background refresh happens if rates are older than 6 hours.
ECB reference rates are mid-market rates (mid-point between buy and sell). Banks and money transfer services add a spread (typically 1–4%). Use this tool to check the baseline and compare with your provider.
